John Wassermann BE (Mech) MEngSc MIEAust CPEng MAAS

John Wassermann is a Director at Wilkinson Murray Pty Limited and is a Mechanical Engineer with over 20 years experience in the public and private sectors. He first joined Wilkinson Murray in 2004. John has been involved in the consulting industry for twekve years providing consulting services in acoustics and vibration. For seven years, John worked with the NSW State Government, initially as the Manager of the Noise Assessments area for the EPA, and subsequently as Manager Transport & Infrastructure for the Major Infrastructure Assessment area of the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources (formerly Planning NSW).

John's qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering), Master of Engineering Science (specialising in acoustics and vibration) and a Graduate Diploma of Management. He is a member of the Australian Acoustical Society and a Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia. John has considerable experience in NSW Environmental and Noise Legislation, Environment Planning and Assessment Act (1979) and the Protection of the Environment Operations Act (1997).

While working for Government, John had substantial involvement in regulation and assessment of state significant projects and major infrastructure, development of the NSW Industrial Noise Policy (INP), development of the Environmental Criteria for Road Traffic Noise (ECRTN) and development of Consent / Approval conditions to manage construction noise for industrial and infrastructure projects.

Some of the major projects which John has been substantially involved in are Cross City Tunnel, Lane Cove Tunnel, Parramatta Rail Link, M7 Westlink, Northern Distributor Extension Wollongong, North West Transitways, Windsor Flood Evacuation Route, Mount Arthur Coal Mine, Donaldson Coal Mine, Hunter Valley South Coal Mine, Mount Owen Coal Mine, Exeter Quarry, White Bay and Glebe Island Port, Port Botany Facilities, Visy Paper, Tumut and many smaller industrial facilities and quarries.

John has a keen interest in architectural acoustics and has been involved in many of these projects including relocation of the Foxtel offices to North Ryde, SBS TV Studio, Windsor Cinema refurbishment, Broadway Cinema, Observatory Hotel Development, GPO Building Sydney, Hyde Park Regency, Rushcutters Bay Hotel and Apartments, etc.
